Man
has used methods of screening to separate particles of raw earth even before
screening was first recorded in history.
The first
"recorded" reference to screening dates back to 150 BC when Greeks
and Romans described using crude sieves of woven horse hair or hides punched
with holes for separating minerals and clays.
In the 15th century, Germans used the first woven wire screens. These screens
were stiff sheet screen that were shaken by hand, much like a gold miner looked
for gold in streams using a sifting pan.
More to come!
